Carnatic Vocal syllabus

  1. 1. Learn and perform 5–10 Varnams.
  2. 2. Learn and perform 5–10 Kritis.
  3. 3. Learn and perform 5–10 Bhajans.
  4. 4. Learn and perform 2–5 additional medium-complexity Kritis.
  5. 5. Demonstrate accurate rendering of increasingly complex sangatis.
  6. 6. Develop greater control over gamakas and musical phrasing.
  7. 7. Demonstrate improved understanding of raga characteristics.
  8. 8. Develop the ability to present compositions confidently with appropriate tempo and expression.
  9. 9. Strengthen overall vocal control and tala accuracy.

Completion requirement

Expansion of Repertoire and Musical Complexity This level emphasizes broader repertoire development, more demanding compositions, advanced sangatis, and stronger technical and expressive abilities. Expected outcome: The student can perform a substantial repertoire of Varnams, Kritis, and Bhajans, including medium-complexity compositions, with improved musical maturity.
