Carnatic Vocal syllabus

  1. 1. Understand and identify the seven basic swaras: Sa, Ri, Ga, Ma, Pa, Da, Ni.
  2. 2. Demonstrate the ability to sing basic swaras with reasonable pitch accuracy.
  3. 3. Develop introductory awareness of shruti and rhythm.
  4. 4. Learn and perform at least 1 devotional or introductory song.
  5. 5. Demonstrate readiness to begin structured swara exercises.

Completion requirement

Foundation in Carnatic Music This introductory level establishes the foundation for learning Carnatic music. Students develop familiarity with the seven basic swaras, pitch recognition, shruti alignment, and introductory rhythm. Expected outcome: The student can recognize and sing basic swaras and confidently perform an introductory song.
